Pre Procedure Advice
At the time of booking –
If you have ever had a coldsore please let me know at the time of booking as you MUST take a course of Aciclovir medication starting 3 days before treatment and continuing after until the course is complete – no exceptions as the treatment is likely to cause an outbreak without it.
Please let me know if you are suffering from any illness or skin condition or are on any medication especially blood thinners or immune system suppressing medication.
For returning clients, please let me know if you are on any medication at all that I don’t already know of.
I can’t do treatments on anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding (must be at least 3 months after each).
14 days before treatment –
No sunbathing, sunbeds or strong sun exposure. If you have burnt on the
area in the last month we will need to wait for the skin to heal.
No botox, fillers, peels or microneedling.
No retinol on the area – this increases skin sensitivity.
7 days before treatment –
No ibuprofen, aspirin, vitamin E or other blood thinners.
On the day of treatment-
Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these can both make sensitive and cause you to bleed easier meaning the pigment may not retain.
If you have had alcohol in the last 48 hours I will not be able to do the treatment on the day and your booking fee will be lost.
Please arrive on time (no more than 5 minutes early or late) and come alone unless pre arranged.
Post Procedure Advice
For 24 hours after treatment –
Gently wipe the area every 2 hours with a damp cotton pad. Use boiled and cooled water and squeeze the cotton pads out so they are just damp, not soaking. Do not soak the area or leave it too wet.
Avoid touching the area to avoid infection risk.
*For lips only* apply thin layer of cream as needed.
For 5-7 days after treatment –
Do not soak the area in the shower or bath.
Avoid anything that makes you sweat including gym, saunas or hot baths. Sweating will cause the tattoo to fade.
Avoid strong “active ingredients” such as AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids), BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acids), Retinol or low pH Vitamin C as these will irritate the skin.
No exfoliation or scrubbing the area.
DO NOT pick the scabs, this could result in scarring meaning the pigment will be unlikely to retain in that area. They will flake off naturally which usually takes about 5-7 days.
For 28 days after treatment –
Keep the area protected from the sun or sunbeds to avoid damage to the skin while it heals.
You should always wear SPF50 to protect the tattoo from fading.
No skin treatments on the area.
Antibiotics during healing can fade the colour.
After 3/4 weeks you will be able to see the final colour and this is the time to message if you think you need a top up which is £50 between 6-12 weeks after first treatment.
